Our task...
We are hoping to make a slasher horror for our opening title sequence, so we decided to research other popular slasher opening title sequences and then work out what qualities they have in common which we could incorporate into ours.
'scream' (1996)
Scream sticks to many codes and conventions that we expect to see in horror. All of these collaborate to create a suspicious, scary atmosphere and make the film more tense for the audience to watch. Using the phone as a prop and making it continue to ring suggests how she is vulnerable as there is no adult member in the house to look after her, it shows that she has no control over the person which is ringing her and has no way to protect herself. This creates tension for the audience, as the situation could end in many ways.
For our slasher open title sequence we want to create tension for the audience therefor may use the ides of having a young female alone with no adult to protect her.

'Halloween' (1978)
In the opening title sequence for Halloween, they use the camera to act like the person by hiding it in the bushes, this highlights in a slasher how there may be a suspicious person hiding and lurking in the corner.
